'Tis the Season to Ship Your Flowers and Turn Memories Into Art
Wedding season is in full swing, which means bouquets are traveling from all across the country to our studio. If you've recently said "I do," celebrated a special milestone, or have meaningful flowers you'd love preserved forever, now is the perfect time to prepare them for shipping.
One of the most common questions we receive is:
"How do I ship my flowers to Fossil Flowers?"
The good news is that shipping flowers is easier than most people think. With a little preparation, your blooms can arrive safely and ready to be transformed into a one-of-a-kind keepsake.
Step 1: Keep Your Flowers Fresh
Until you're ready to ship, keep your flowers in fresh water and store them in a cool location away from direct sunlight.
The fresher the flowers are when they arrive, the better the preservation results will be.
Step 2: Prepare the Stems
Wrap the cut ends of the stems with a damp paper towel. The paper towel should be moist but not dripping wet.
Secure the paper towel with a rubber band to help keep the flowers hydrated during transit.
Avoid wrapping the blooms themselves in plastic, as trapped moisture can encourage mold and damage delicate petals.
Step 3: Choose the Right Box
Select a sturdy cardboard box that is tall enough and wide enough to comfortably fit your bouquet.
Never force flowers into a box that is too small. Crushed blooms can be difficult to restore, and some damage may be permanent.
The bouquet should fit naturally inside the box with room for protective packing paper around it.
Step 4: Add Packing Paper
Line the bottom and sides of the box with packing paper.
Create a soft nest that will support the bouquet and prevent movement during shipping.
Once the bouquet is placed inside the box, gently add additional packing paper around the flowers. The goal is to keep the bouquet secure without crushing the blooms.
A properly packed bouquet should not shift when the box is gently moved.
Step 5: Ship Overnight
This is the most important step.
We strongly recommend shipping your flowers overnight whenever possible.
Flowers are living botanicals, and every extra day in transit can impact their condition. Overnight shipping helps ensure your bouquet arrives fresh, vibrant, and ready for preservation.
While 2-day shipping may work in some situations, overnight service gives your flowers the best chance of arriving in optimal condition.
If your wedding takes place on a Saturday, we typically recommend shipping on Monday using overnight service.
Before You Seal the Box

✔ Overnight shipping has been selected
✔ Include a note card inside the box with your full name, shipping address, phone number, and order number. This helps us quickly identify your flowers upon arrival and match them to your order, ensuring a smooth intake process.
